Today (July 15th) is the last round for Pool B competitors at the 2011 Calgary Stampede. Everyone will be giving it their all in this afternoons performance in hopes of qualifying for Showdown Sunday.
In the barrel racing, Sydni Blanchard has been having a phenomenal Stampede, winning the first three rounds of Pool B. I think it’s safe to say she will be making her first debut in Showdown Sunday as she is leading the money won in Pool B with $16,500. Tammy Fisher is sitting 2nd overall in Pool B with $13,500 won. BC’s Gaylene Buff is 3rd overall in Pool B with $8,000 won. Gaylene will be hoping to win some money this afternoon so she can compete on Showdown Sunday. The other Canadians in Pool B Julie Legget, Sierra Stoney and Rana Koopmans will all be hoping for great runs this afternoon for their chance at being closer to making Showdown Sunday.
In the saddle bronc, three Canadians are sitting in the top 4 after the first three rounds of Pool B so they will be hoping this continues. Luke Butterfield of Ponoka, AB is leading the overall money won with $8,000 with Rylan Geiger close behind with $7,000. Kyle Thomson is sitting 4th with $5,000 won which is $500 dollars behind Jesse Wright of Milford, UT who is sitting third. Todd Herzog of Penhold, AB hasn’t had the Stampede he would of hoped for so he will be looking to make his first cheque today.
In the bareback riding, the top money earners so far in Pool B are Canadians. Dusty LaValley and Kyle Bowers both of AB are sitting good for Showdown Sunday. Will Lowe and Steven Pebbles are right behind in third and fourth place. Matt Lait from Blazac, AB is just out of the top four placings while Reid Rowan and Michael Solberg will be hoping to make some money in this afternoons performance.
In the bull riding, Aaron Roy of SK is sitting 3/4th so far in Pool B for money won. Ty Pozzobon only having one bull covered and Tyler Thomson and Dusty Ephrom having no bulls covered yet will be hoping for some eight second rides this afternoon.
In the tie-down roping, Alwin Bouchard, the only Canadian competing in Pool B is tied for 1st place so far with Trent Creager with $10,000 won. Jake Hannum of Plain City, UT is sitting third and Fred Whitfield of Hockley, TX is sitting fourth.
In the steer wrestling, Canadians Cody Cassidy, Todd Maughan, Clayton Moore are sitting in the top four so far. JD Hays, Straws Milan and Curtis Cassidy are all close behind the top four. Jesse Heggie of Raymond, AB hasn’t had the best of luck so far, today he will be hoping to get his steer down to try and make some money. It will be a tight race till the end of today’s performance to see who the top 4 are that will be making Showdown Sunday.
