Contestants have been working hard so far in this years rodeo season for a chance at making their association finals. In the Canadian Pro Rodeo Association (CPRA) contestants have been busy traveling all over Canada for their chance to make some money towards the standings in hopes of making the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR). Here’s a look at the current leaders in each event so far (up to and including Benalto Rodeo July 21, 2011):
In the saddle bronc, Taos Muncy of Corona, NM is currently leading the standings with $21,981 won. Rylan Geiger out of Duchess, AB is close behind in second so far with $21,035 won.
In the bareback riding, Jason Havens of Prineville, OR is currently leading the standings with $16,659 won. Clint Cannon out of Waller, TX is sitting in second currently with $14,998 won.
In the bull riding, two Alberta cowboys are currently sitting in the number one and two positions, Denton Edge out of Marwayne and Steven Turner out of Cochrane. Denton currently has $23,626 won while Steven has $22,248 won.
In the tie-down roping, two cowboys from Texas are currently leading the way, Timber Moore of Aubrey and Trevor Brazile of Decatur. Timber has $18,784 won towards the standings and Trevor is sitting with $15,033 won so far.
In the steer wrestling, two Alberta cowboys also lead the way so far, Curtis Cassidy of Donalda and Calgary Stampede winner Straws Milan of Cochrane. Curtis has made $26,518 so far while Straws has currently made $17,002.
In the barrel racing, Brittany Pozzi of Victoria, TX is currently leading with $19,557 won while Susan Smith of Blackfoot, ID is sitting in second position with $18,895 won. There are seven Canadians currently sitting in the top 15: Lindsay Sears (5th), Traci MacDonald (7th), Joleen Seitz (8th), Gaylene Buff (9th), Carolynn Knapp (11th), Laura James (12th) and Rylee McKenzie (13th).
In the team roping, the two heelers sitting in the top two spots currently are Matt Fawcett of Stettler, AB ($10,965) and Patrick Smith of Lipan, TX ($8,908). The two headers currently sitting in the top positions are Brett Buss of Ponoka, AB ($10,965) and Trevor Brazile of Decatur, TX ($8,908).
Ty Taypotat from Regina, SK is currently leading the Permit standings.
Lee Ann Rust from Stephenville, TX is currently leading the Rookie standings.
The All-Around is currently being lead by Kyle Thomson of Lundbreck, AB and the High-Point is being lead by Curtis Cassidy of Donalda, AB.
