February 28th brought the conclusion of the 2018 Canadian Barrel Horse Incentive Super Stakes Stud Fee Auction. The lucrative auction of 133 stud fees raised almost 125,000 towards the 2022 Super Stakes pot. Taking home the honors of the highest stud fee sold this year was A Classic Guy from Sandy Ridge Stallion Station. Close behind was Frenchs Hula Guy from 4Tress Farms.

The 2018 CBHI and Super Stakes futurity will run October 4th to 7th 2018 in Ponoka, AB
First place in the futurity is expected to pay $33,600, with second paying $18,000. The race pays 8 places. The stallion owner of the horse winning the futurity also wins $11,200. The derby will pay $8400 to win with the stallion owner winning $2400. The derby also pays 8 holes.
First futurity and derby entry payments for the futurity are due August 1st. Your horse does not need to be CBHI or Super Stakes to entry the futurity and derby. These are bonus monies paid to eligible horses.
