The Calgary Stampede Gets Underway Today

The 2011 Calgary Stampede gets underway this afternoon with the first rides and runs of the contestants in Pool A.  The contestants will be giving it their all in hopes of qualifying for Showdown Sunday where they will have the chance of winning $100,000 and the Calgary Stampede Championship.  Draws and results of each round for each pool are listed here.

The Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) only has one pro rodeo taking place this weekend which is in Benalto, AB.  The draw for this rodeo (and results which will be posted next week) can be found here.

In the Canadian Cowboys Association (CCA) contestants will be driving to Wood Mountain and Moosomin, SK to compete.  Wood Mountain’s slack performance starts this afternoon (July 8th) and has two more performances on Saturday and Sunday.  Moosomin’s first performance gets underway tonight also with a slack and a performance happening tomorrow (July 9th).  Results for these rodeos can be found next week here.

The Lakeland Rodeo Association (LRA) and the Wildrose Rodeo Association (WRA) have three rodeos happening this weekend that are all dual approved with each other.  There is a Finals Tour taking place in Cloverlodge, AB July 9-10th.  There is also a rodeo in Hardisty, AB taking place July 9-10th.  Goodfish Lake, AB will start tonight (July 8th) and go until Sunday, July 10th.  Results for these rodeos can be found here or here next week.
