In round 2 of the 2015 Wrangler NFR, Canada came closer to getting all six of our contestants in the money.
While Orin Larson kept himself mounted for 8 seconds, his score wasn’t enough to get in the money. His brother Tyrel on the other hand cashed in with a 81.5 for third in the saddle bronc. Zeke Thurston kept himself in the average covering his second horse, but not enough for a cheque. Clint Laye was another Canadian in the money as he rode for a solid 81 receiving a 5th place cheque in the bareback.
Tanner Milan set the pace in the steer wrestling being first out and dropping the steer in 3.7 seconds. When all the contestants had been through the box Milan ended up splitting 3rd with Black Knowles. The round was won with a 3.5.
Deb Guelly ran Oscar again in the barrels and improved their time by keeping the barrels up. They aren’t too far off the pace so look for them at the pay window real soon.
TJ the calf horse, also a Canadian split 3/4 for Shane Hanchey.
Here’s a look at last nights round winners. The big winner of the night was Clayton Folton in the bull riding. While his score was only a 76.5 he was the only bull rider to cover his bull so he gets the entire purse of over $80,000! Only the first place money of $26K will count in the world standings, but I’m sure the balance will spend just the same.

Here’s a cool video of Derrick Begay and Clay O’Brian Cooper on their Round 2 win. They talk about a picture Derrick posted on his facebook page. He was just 3 when he had his picture taken with his idol and now he’s at the NFR roping with him. They recreated the picture just for fun. Dreams do come true!
