Rodeo Season is Quickly Coming to an End

by Shayna on September 21, 2011

Contestants who have been traveling up and down the rodeo trail all year are realizing that the season is sadly coming to an end.  Some associations like the Lakeland Rodeo Association have already had their finals, while others only have a small handful of rodeos left in the season.  Below is a breakdown of the rodeos left in each association as well as when the finals are for each.

In the Canadian Cowboys Association (CCA) there are five rodeos left to count towards this years finals.  This weekend (September 23-25th) there is only one rodeo happening which is in Beechy, SK.  Beechy is also dual approved with the Chinook Rodeo Association (CRA).  Contestants will be hoping for fast times and high scores to advance to the short go round which happens on Sunday.  Next weekend (September 30-October 1st) there is also only one rodeo – contestants will travel to Kamsack, SK.  Contestants will then finish the 2011 season off by traveling to three rodeos in hopes to grab that little bit of extra money towards the standings.  Central Butte and Wapella, SK are to hold their rodeos on October 7-8th while St. Rose, MB is hosting their rodeo on October 8-9th.  Both Wapella and St. Rose rodeos are dual approved with the Manitoba Rodeo Cowboys Association (MRCA).  After these rodeos it will be determined who qualifies for the CCA Finals which are held in Regina, SK November 22-26th.  On November 4-5th there is also a rodeo being held in Yorkton, SK however this rodeo will count towards the 2012 year.  To check out the unoffical standings in the CCA please click here.

In the Manitoba Rodeo Cowboys Association (MRCA) there are three rodeos left until their finals.  As previously mentioned MRCA contestants have rodeos left in Kamsack, SK; Wapella, SK; and St. Rose, MB.  The MRCA Finals will be held on October 20-23rd in Brandon, MB.  To check out the standings and results from the 2011 season you can go to their website by clicking here.

In the Chinook Rodeo Association (CRA) there is only one rodeo left until finals which is in Beechy, SK (as previously mentioned).  The Chinook Finals will be held in Taber, AB on October 21-23rd.  For a look at the unofficial standings in the CRA please click here.

The Foothills Cowboy Association (FCA) contestants don’t have anymore rodeos to go to this season, they will be gearing up for their finals which are being held October 7-9th at the Western Park in Red Deer, AB.  For more information on these finals you can visit the FCA website here.

Lastly, in the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) there are only two rodeos left for this rodeo season.  This weekend contestants will travel to Hanna, AB (September 23-25) and McCord, SK (September 23-24).  The Canadian Finals Rodeo will be held November 9-15th in Edmonton, AB.  To check out the unofficial standings you can go to the CPRA website here.
