The 1st go round of the 2011 NHSRA Finals in Gillette, Wyoming ended after the morning performance on Wednesday, July 20th. There have been lots of rides and runs so far and more to come! Below is a recap of the current overall standings as of Wednesday evenings performance. Currently the top 4 contestants in the average in each event are as follows (please keep in mind that most contestants still have another go left):
In the barrel racing, Callahan Crossley of Hermiston, Ore is leading the average so far with a time of 35.267. Cassidy Kruse of Gillette, Wyo is close behind with a time of 35.272. Kimberlyn Fehringer of American Falls, Idaho and Kellie Wiersma of Outlook, Wash are sitting third and fourth so far in the average with times of 35.456 and 35.568. There are three Canadians currently sitting in the top 20 average and they are Carlee Jo Edge of Cochrane, AB; Tara Wilkinson of Arrowwood, AB and Shayle McLeod of Monte Creek, BC.
In the goat tying, currently leading the average is Shancee Smith of Malad, Idaho with a time of 18.6. LeighAnn Scribner of Edgewood, NM is right behind Shancee with a time of 18.68. Sadie Gjermudnson of Halliday, ND is currently sitting third in the average with her time of 18.96. Canadian, Tess Manning of Belmont, MB is currently sitting in fourth position with a time of 19.52. Currently there is only one other Canadian in the top 20 average of the goat tying, Samantha Feeney from Dublin, ON is in 16th spot with a time of 28.49 seconds.
In the bull riding, Casey Farrington of Collbran, CO is currently leading the average with his score of 87 points. Tyler Bingham of Honeyville, UT has a score of 85 points to place him second so far in the average. Guy Nordahl of Helena, MT and Dalton Cunningham of Bloomfield, Neb. are sitting third and fourth in the average with their scores of 84 and 83 points. As of Wednesday evening’s performance there are no Canadians in the top 20 of the bull riding.
In the steer wrestling, JD Struxness of Appleton, Minn. is currently leading the average with his time of 11.62 seconds. Jace Melvin out of Fort Pierre, SD is sitting second in the average with a time of 12.69 seconds. Herriman, UT cowboy Colton Mooney is currently sitting third in the average with a time of 12.67 seconds. Fourth in the average as of Wednesday evening’s performance is Ethan Bobo out of Carthage, Miss. with a time of 14.66 seconds. The Canadian cowboys who still have one more go left will be hoping to get their steers down in a fast time to bump them up into the top 20 standings.
In the pole bending, so far Hannah Beamer of Pinetown, NC is leading the average with a time of 40.363. Loni Lester of Gonzales, TX is sitting in second currently with a time of 40.792. Kaitlyn Jones of Hotchkiss, CO and Morgan Jerome of Pardeeville, Wisc. are sitting in third and fourth so far with their times of 41.349 and 41.588. Canadian Rebecca Riegling out of Tilbury, ON is currently sitting in 17th position with her time of 47.977. Rae Lyng who is from Virden, MB with a time of 53.06 is currently sitting in 21st position.
In the tie down roping, Seth Driggers of Pearcy, Ark is leading the average so far with a time of 20.75. Cody Huber from Albia, Iowa is sitting in second spot so far with a time of 23.82. Towner, ND cowboy Tyler Thorson is currently sitting in third position with a time of 25.49 while Kourt Starr of Dupree, SD is sitting in fourth position with his time of 25.79. As of Wednesday evening’s performance there are currently two Canadians sitting in the top 20, Chance Jackson from Sedley, SK is sitting in 8th position with 30.91 seconds and Ricky Warren of Hudson’s Hope, BC is sitting 11th with a time of 45.58 seconds.
In the team roping, Jesse Harville and Will Woodfin from Texas are leading the average so far with a time of 13.71. Reno Eddy and Cody Mirabal of New Mexico are sitting second in the average currently with a time of 17.9 seconds. Currently sitting in third place in the team roping is Quinn Kesler and Taylor Winn of Utah with their time of 18.43. Austin Crist and Taten Koenig of Colorado are sitting in fourth spot with a time of 22.48 seconds. As of Wednesday evening’s performance there are currently no Canadians sitting in the top 20 of the team roping.
In the bareback riding, leading the average so far is Neil Williams of Mills, WY with a score of 140. Richmond Champion from The Woodlands, TX and Dylan Wahlert of La Junta, CO are tied for second and third with a score of 139 points. Currently in fourth place is Cavan Wrzesinski of Boulder, MT with his score of 133. Canadian Buck Moen of Elrose, SK is currently sitting in eighth position with a score of 109.
In the saddle bronc riding, Treyson Antonick of Overton, TX is currently leading the average with a score of 108. Colton Miller of Lance Creek, WY is in second position with his score of 84. Currently sitting in third position with a score of 75 points is Ty Hamm of Minneapolis, Kan and sitting in fourth position is Tyler Baeza of Beaver Damn, Arizona with a score of 71. There are currently two Canadians sitting in the top 20 average after Wednesday evening’s performance. Clay Elliot of Vernon, BC is in a four way tie for seventh with a score of 68 points. Dillon Barkshire of Delburne, AB is sitting in 15th position with a score of 64.
In the boys cutting, currently sitting in first place in the average as of Wednesday evening’s performance is Hunter Hightower of Bluff Dale, TX with a score of 429. Cooper Vandiver from Fairfield, TX is sitting in second spot with a score of 424 and Dustin Latta of Marana, AZ and Josh Burns of Deville, La are currently tied for third place with 414 points. There is currently one Canadian sitting in the top 20 as of Wednesday evening’s performance, Lance Isaak of Arras BC is in 14th spot with a score of 390.
In the girls cutting, currently sitting in first place in the average as of Wednesday evening’s performance is Wacie Winterfield of Perryton, TX with a score of 431.5. Canadian, Keely Steinman of Red Deer, AB is currently sitting in second position with a score of 415. Tied for third and fourth position so far is Kimmy Ferrante of California and Taylor Rieniets of Wyoming with a score of 410. Another Canadian cowgirl, Madi Stoltzfus of Merritt, BC is currently in a three way tie for ninth place with a score of 401.
