The Stampede has already been full of fast paced exciting action. Today (July 11th) was the last chance for Pool A competitors to try and make it into the Top 4 which will ensure they will be competing in the Showdown Sunday. Here’s a brief run down of how the Canadian competitors made out:
In the barrel racing, the top four winners of today’s go were won by Canadians (Joleen Seitz, Lauren Byrne, Deb Renger and Lindsay Sears). Three Canadians also advance to Showdown Sunday: Joleen Seitz who ended up 1st overall in Pool A, Deb Renger who ended up 2nd, Brittany Pozzi placed 3rd overall and Lindsay Sears placed 4th overall. Lauren Byrne and Crystal Shaw will be giving it their all on Saturday in hopes to qualify to Showdown Sunday.
In the bull riding, Corey Navarre, Wesley Silcox, Austin Meier and Shane Proctor will be the top 4 from Pool A to advance to Showdown Sunday while the other bull riders from this pool will be hoping for good qualified rides on Wildcard Saturday for their chance at Showdown Sunday.
In the saddle bronc, Jim Berry of Rocky Mountain House, AB ended up 3rd overall in Pool A. Chad Ferley, Wade Sundell and Jesse Bail joins Jim to the Showdown Sunday. Dustin Flundra and Justin Berg will be hoping for high scores on Wildcard Saturday to try and make Showdown Sunday.
In the bareback riding, Canadians Logan Hodson and Davey Shields Jr are going to be hoping for high point rides on Wildcard Saturday in hopes to make it to Showdown Sunday. The four competitors already advancing to Showdown Sunday are Kaycee Feild, Bobby Mote, Ryan Gray, Steven Dent.
In the tie-down roping, Logen Hofer of Magrath, AB and Chad Johnson of Del Bonita, AB will be looking to make it back to Showndown Sunday through a birth in the Wild Card Saturday. Pool A will send Shane Hanchey, Hunter Herrin, Tuf Cooper and Clif Cooper to the Showdown Sunday.
Lastly, in the steer wrestling, Lee Graves of Calgary has had all four times under 5 seconds but it was his 3.8 second run in the 4th round that secured his position in the top 4. He will head to the Showdown with Matt Reeves, Billy Bugenig and Dean Gorsuch
