It was a full weekend of barrel racing in Ponoka, AB the weekend of April 11-13th. The 4th Annual Barrel Bash hosted by Lisa & Travis Gallais was well attended and received again in 2014.
In addition to the Open and Youth 4D Barrel Race, the weekend also featured a Slot Race where the stakes were high. There were only 50 slots available to purchase in advance at a $250 entry fee. With 50 slots sold, the winner would take home $3000. Because the mailman brought a slew of entries the same day, the Gallais’s ended up taking 55 entries and first place paid a whopping $3300. It was a 3D format so first place in the 2D paid $1980 and the 3D $1320. They paid 3 holes in each division.
