by Shayna on May 30, 2011

Raylee on Henson at Falkland. Thanks to Abby MacNeish for the picture.

This year the barrel racing at the Falkland, BC CPRA rodeo was won be Raylee Edwards.  We recently had the chance to speak with Raylee after her big win.

Here’s what she had to say:

-What is the name of your horse?  Loves To Kid aka ‘Henson’
-How old is he?  He’s 8 years old
-How long have you been running barrels on this horse?  I futuritied him as a four year old and then he has been used sparsely since then.
-What kind of saddle do you use?  I ride in a Raylee Racer, a saddle I designed with Frontier Western Shop in Claresholm, AB.
-What kind of pad do you use?  I use a plain felt pad, it’s a nice thickness and works well with my saddle.
-What kind of bit do you use in this horse?  I use a Jim Warner hackamore, it seems to be doing the trick right now.  He was being a little to bendy so I started using it to stiffen him up.
-Is there any special shoes you use? What kind?  I use aluminum racing plates from thoro’bred.
-What type of feed do you feed your horse?  I use a grass alfalfa mix hay and Tizwhiz grow-n-perform from UFA.
